Terms of Use
These terms apply to the Lapse app for iPhone, its widgets and iMessage stickers (“Lapse”), and this website. Lapse is made by Lavanya Tatiparthi (“we”, “us”). By downloading or using Lapse you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the app.
1. Licence
Lapse is licensed, not sold, to you under Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the standard EULA), together with these terms. If the two conflict, the standard EULA applies.
2. What Lapse is
Lapse is a personal tool for counting down to dates, tracking progress through a period and counting up from a date, shown in the app and as widgets. Numbers are calculated on your iPhone from the dates you enter and your iPhone’s clock and time zone. Reminders are delivered by iOS and may be delayed or silenced by Focus, Low Power Mode or your notification settings, so don’t rely on Lapse alone for anything critical.
3. Lapse Pro
Lapse is free to download and use with up to three events and a selection of free styles. Lapse Pro is an optional upgrade that unlocks unlimited events, every style, font, palette, pattern and photo background, sharing widgets as images and iMessage stickers, and extra app icons.
- Plans. Lapse Pro is offered as a monthly or yearly auto-renewing subscription, or as a one-time lifetime purchase. Prices are shown in the app in your local currency before you buy.
- Payment. Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. We never see your payment details.
- Free trial. If a free trial is offered and you’re eligible, you won’t be charged until it ends. If you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends, you won’t be charged.
- Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically for the same period and price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the period.
- Cancelling. Manage or cancel any time in iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions, or from Settings → Manage subscription in Lapse. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep Pro until the end of the period you’ve paid for.
- Refunds. Purchases are handled by Apple, so refund requests go to Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
- Lifetime. A lifetime purchase unlocks Lapse Pro for as long as the app is offered, with no renewals, and can be shared with your Family Sharing group.
- Restoring. Use Restore purchase in Settings or on the Lapse Pro screen to unlock Pro on another device signed in to the same Apple Account.
- If Pro ends. Your events and designs aren’t deleted. Widgets that use a Pro style switch to a free style until Pro is active again, and events beyond the free limit become read-only.
4. Your content
Your events, designs and photos are yours and stay on your iPhone (see the privacy policy). Only add photos you have the right to use. If you delete the app or lose your device without a backup, we can’t recover your data, because we never have it.
5. Acceptable use
Don’t use Lapse for anything unlawful, and don’t try to copy, reverse-engineer or redistribute the app, its templates or artwork except as the law allows. The fonts bundled with Lapse are used under the SIL Open Font License.
6. Availability and changes
We work to keep Lapse reliable and may add, change or remove features and styles through App Store updates. We don’t guarantee the app will always be available or free of errors.
7. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Lapse is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, and we aren’t liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, missed dates or lost data arising from your use of the app. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that can’t be excluded.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When we do, we’ll change the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use Lapse after an update means you accept the new terms.
